A MUM says she wants to thank the good samaritans who stopped to help her son after he was pushed over by a group of other children.

Jessica McBride shared pictures of injuries she says her 14-year-old son received when he was attacked after school on Facebook in a bid to find the people who helped him.

Ryan Arrowsmith was left with cuts to his knees after the scuffle between him and a group of younger boys at around 3.40pm on Wednesday, November 30.

Mrs McBride said he was pushed to the ground and kicked outside Sainsbury’s in Swanpool Walk, St John’s and chased down the road before being pushed over again outside Lloyds bank, in New Road.

She said her son did not know the other boys and the row was sparked when they were making fun of his rucksack.

She claims her son has become a target for bullies because other pupils are jealous of his computing skills.

However, Neil Morris, head of Christopher Whitehead Language College, where Ryan is a pupil, said he was unaware of any such ongoing issues.

He said the school’s PCSO Iain Sweatman is investigating the incident and he understood he would be speaking to all of the children involved about their behaviour.

Mrs McBride said her Facebook post had been shared more than 100 times and she hopes to be able to find and thank those who stopped to help.

She said: “There were a couple of guys. They pulled the boys off him and shouted at them and they all ran off.

“It has restored my faith in human spirit knowing people are happy to help.

“Many people would just walk on by. I want to say thank you.

“The aim of my post isn’t to name and shame them, that’s for school to deal with.

“I want to get some help for them.”

Mrs McBride says Ryan was very shaken by the incident and did not want to return to school.

Mr Morris said it was a nasty incident, but he could not comment further because the police were involved.
