A TEENAGER from Stourport is calling on support from her home town to help her in her quest to become Miss England next year.

Kidderminster College business student Faith Broome-Nelson has made it through to the quarter-final of the competition and is one of dozens of contestants hoping to progress through to the next round.

A public vote has now got underway and the 19-year-old hopes the get backing from Wyre Forest and the rest of Worcestershire to help her get to the third semi-final heat, held in June 2017.

As well as raising her own profile and acquiring the highest number of votes, Faith also has to raise awareness and funds for the Miss World charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose.

Faith, who was Stourport Carnival Queen for 2015, believes she is the only contestant from the county to make it this far having come through an audition.

The ex-Stourport High pupil said: “I need people to vote for me to help me get through so would love to have the support of my home town and the rest of Worcestershire.

“I believe I’m the only one from the area competing this year and I’d love to help do my bit to put the county on the map.

“I loved being Stourport Carnival Queen last year and had such an amazing time. Going for Miss England is the next step so I applied for it and here I am.

“Next year, I’m hoping to go to university to study event management and I believe the experience I get from this competition will help me greatly.”

People can support Faith in her bid to win through to the Miss England semi-final by texting MISS SEMI03 to 63333. Text votes costs 50p.

The voting lines, which opened on December 1 will close at midday on Monday, January 2.
