STAFF at the Co-op store in Dines Green will be encouraging customers to sign up as members and raise funds for local causes this weekend.

The team at the Gresham Road shop have chosen three local charities to benefit from this weekend’s membership drive: Snoezelen, Headway and Sight Concern.

When customers sign up, one per cent of the proceeds from their spending goes to the charity of their choice.

Team manager Julie Owens said: “So far we’ve raised £1,800 for each of the three charities, which is really great.

“As soon as we explain how the scheme works and the charities that we are helping, people are really enthusiastic about it.”

“There’s still time this weekend to come and see us and sign up to help raise even more money.

“We chose local charities because the Co-op is all about helping close-knit local communities.”
