A LIFESAVING piece of equipment has been bought for a memorial club thanks to the efforts of the community.

Past and present members of Fernhill Heath and District War Memorial Club, on Droitwich Road, helped to fund the defibrillator.

They were supported by other businesses and community minded people to find the equipment which will be stationed on the exterior of the club's building.

Acting chairman Bob Jackson said: "The club itself has had two fatalities due to heart attacks.

"It was felt that funding the defib was a good way to honour those people as well as others who have served our community and the club over many years.

"I would like to say a big thank you to all who donated and have helped to make this happen."

There will be free training sessions for people on how to use the life-saving equipment but, in an emergency, guidance can be given by 999 operators.

Anyone interested in taking part in a free training workshop should contact the club on 01905 451054.
