ALCESTER cemented top spot in Midlands Division Four West South with a 33-17 success over Harbury.

Skipper Jack Green stole the show with a hat-trick of tries, taking his tally to 23 for the season.

Alcester rang the changes from recent games bringing in flanker Carwyne Dickenson for his first start while Sam Smith returned from university to start at full back.

Green opened the scoring with a try against the run of play after latching onto a miscued kick from his brother and fly half Josh O'Connor.

The same combination combined for a second try with O'Connor sending Green over.

O'Connor also converted both tries before Harbury hit back with a converted try of their own to make the score 14-7 at the break.

Second half replacement Alex Chiles provided Alcester's third try with the best move of the match, but Harbury remained in contention with another try to trail 19-12.

The game swung Alcester's way from that point, Green completing his hat-trick with an individual try which O'Connor converted.

Sam Smith added another try, having moved up to scrum half, crossing unchallenged from the base of a scrum while O'Connor made it four out of five conversions.

Alcester were now out of sight at 33-12 but were guilty of over elaborating, which allowed Harbury to create turnover ball which resulted with a third try to complete thewscoring.

Table topping Alcester have a break from league rugby this week when they entertain Stratford's Second XV at Kings Coughton (2-15pm).

Alcester's Second XV, supported by some players from Wellesbourne lost 26-17 to Birmingham Exiles.

After the game they were presented with the Warwickshire Second XV shield by John Alford who is the President of Warwickshire RFU.

Alcester Colts continued the club's successful run with a 32-14 triumph over Northampton Men's Own.
