AFTER months of voting the winners of a county-wide book competition will be announced.
For four months, young people across Worcestershire have been reading a shortlist of six books – and voting for their favourite.
The results will be announced at the Worcestershire Teen Book Awards, held at County Hall, in Worcester, on Wednesday, March 29.
Dawn Woods, schools library service manager, said: "The Worcestershire Teen Book Awards are a great event to encourage young people to read for pleasure.
"The award is now in its tenth year and widens reading choices for young people as well as increasing wellbeing and confidence."
The titles which made the shortlist are: Born Scared by Kevin Brooks, Why I went back, by James Clammer, The Trap, by Alan Gibbons, Death or Ice cream, by Gareth P Jones, Blame, by Simon Mayo, and Lying about last Summer, by Sue Wallman.
At the event, 120 pupils will take part in an interschool quiz, hear a talk by author Sufiya Ahmed and listen to poems by Oakley Flanagan, Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate.
