POLICE have named a 55-year-old Kidderminster man who died in hospital as Mark Beresford.

Officers are treating Mr Beresford's death as suspicious, and have made an arrest.

An ambulance was called to a property in Offmore Road at around 8.30pm on Friday, March 24, and found Mr Beresford with serious head injuries.

Mr Beresford was taken to hospital where he died on Saturday.

Staff at the hospital alerted West Mercia Police following concerns around the cause of his injuries, and an investigation was launched.

A 22-year-old man from Kidderminster was later arrested and has been released on police bail until a date in July.

Mr Beresford's next of kin were informed and a post mortem took place, which indicated that his death is unexplained.

An investigation is ongoing to find out how he became injured.

Detective Inspector John Cashion said: "We're currently keeping an open mind about the cause of death and we're keen to speak to anyone who has any information that could help us with our enquires."

Police ask that the privacy of Mr Beresford's family is respected at this difficult time.
