PLANS to demolish a former Kidderminster independent school's buildings to make way for housing have been submitted to the district council.

The application to demolish the former Knoll School buildings, in Manor Avenue, and build six homes and associated access parking, and garden areas have been submitted to Wyre Forest District Council.

The plans have been submitted by S R Davis Architects, on behalf of the Knoll School Educational Trust and Metis Developments Ltd.

The application states: "The proposed scheme achieves the provision of six detached dwellings. Each of the houses within the site has an allocated garden.

"The development achieves well defined private space, through use of screening vegetation.

"The houses each benefit from two off-street parking spaces. In addition to these spaces the site layout provides two visitor parking spaces."

The Knoll School closed its doors in Manor Avenue after joining forces with the Heathfield School, in January 2017, to create the Heathfield Knoll School.

The new school is aimed at creating a "best in class" independent school.

A consultation period for the application will run until May 2, before the application will be up for discussion at the council’s planning committee at a later date.

Residents can view and comment on the application on the council's planning website via the reference number 17/0213/FULL.
