CHILDREN will have the opportunity to learn all about space next week at the Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle.

As part of the museum's 'Summer Fun' event, youngsters will be able to join in with a range of themed weeks throughout the summer holidays.

From Tuesday (August 22) to Thursday, August 24, between 10.30am and 4pm, the museum will host 'Space Week' where children can learn all about space, with the museum's resident expert 'Professor Peter;.

Peter will invite visitors to take part in activities from going on a journey through space, to using models of different rockets to learn all about space travel. Younger children will have the opportunity to become an astronaut by trying on spacesuit costumes.

With more than 1,000 years of history to discover, children can learn about space by following the Space Explorer Trail around the museum. Visitors will also be encouraged to get creative and make straw rockets or solar system mobiles.

Activity days cost £2 per child for the day's activities following normal museum admission fees.

Pippa Ashmore, museum events manager, said: "School holidays can seem endless and it can start getting really expensive keeping the kids entertained, but a visit to the County Museum is affordable fun for the whole family."
