CHURCHFIELD Farm in Salwarpe, near Droitwich, was the centre of the action on Saturday, when it played host to the village's annual fete.

The event was held to raise money for the parish's two historic churches, St Michael's at Salwarpe itself and St. Michael and All Angels at Martin Hussingtree.

Traditional stalls included crockery smashing, which was enjoyed by all ages, name the dog, a coconut shy and a bottle tombola.

And music was provided at the fete itself by West Mercia Police Brass and by the Worcester Ukulele Club, while the St Richard's Hospice Choir sang in the church.

Among the games on offer were a bucking bronco and a cactus lasso, while children could also enjoy the traditional carousel and bouncy castle.

And the ladies of Salwarpe WI were kept busy supplying the fete-goers with much-needed teas.

There was also a barbecue, cakes, local cider and ice cream provided by the venue's own Churchfields Farmhouse Ice Creams.

And proud owners displayed their vintage vehicles, including Paul Norton with his immaculate 1953 Triumph Mayflower.

He said: "It stays indoors during the winter. The salt they put on the roads wouldn't do it any good.

"It comes out for high days and holidays and for shows like this."

Other vehicles on display included a vintage Rolls Royce, a Ferrari and an army truck.
