Tesco has published an independent report which outlines how the supermarket works with colleagues, suppliers and community organisations.
The report estimated that within the West Midlands in the 12 months measured, Tesco made an economic contribution of more than £2.6billion, supported more than 55,000 full-time equivalent jobs and worked with approximately 450 local suppliers.
Out of every £1 spent by Tesco customers, 73p goes back to farmers and suppliers in the UK, 11p is paid to Tesco staff in wages and 3p is paid to the Government in tax to pay for public services like the NHS.
Tesco provided 585,536 meals to those in need in the West Midlands via its Community Food Connection initiative.
