AN art exhibition will be held at Catshill Methodist Church next weekend to celebrate the building's 50th anniversary.

Creative works by local artists will go on display at the Golden Cross Lane church from July 13 to July 15.

The event is free to attend and some of the artwork will be available to buy.

Among the paintings on show will be two pictures of the Vulcan bomber, marking 100 years of the RAF, which have been produced by Marlbrook resident Dave Morgan, who took up painting seven years ago.

Dave, who attends regular art classes in Alvechurch, said: "Some of the art has been produced by people who either attend the church or who are occasional visitors to the coffee shop, whilst others have been created by local artists known to us.

"It was a great idea to host this short exhibition as part of our celebrations and we all hope that visitors will enjoy both seeing local amateur artists’ work."

Opening times are Friday and Saturday from 10am until noon and then from 2pm to 4pm. On Sunday, the church exhibit will be open between 2pm and 4pm.

Refreshments will be available each day, although cream teas will only be on sale on Saturday - at a cost of £2 each. Pre-booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
