WOMEN and girls are getting ready for the Race for Life this weekend.

Among those taking part is 72 year old Wendy Poyner. This race will be Mrs Poyner's tenth Race for Life in the city since she got the all clear from cancer in 2008. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002. Mrs Poyner from Worcester, said:

“My experience means I understand all too clearly why Cancer Research UK’s work is so important. It’s thanks to all the mums, grans, daughters and friends who take part in Race for Life and help fund vital research that Cancer Research UK’s scientists and doctors can continue to make strides forward in their efforts to beat the disease. That’s why I’m calling on women in Worcester to join the fight and sign up today."

The Race For Life is a fundraising fun run for Cancer Research UK. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

There is plenty of room for spectators to watch the race and friends and family of the competitors are encouraged to go along to show their support. They can stroll around the stalls and enjoy the refreshments and a bouncy castle, while listening to Heart radio as they cheer the runners to the finish.
