A GARDENER in Alvechurch has grown one of Britain’s prettiest roses – and that’s official!

Elizabeth Aubury entered a bloom of one of her favourite roses into the regional heats of the Nation's Prettiest Rose, ran by The Sun newspaper.

After being chosen as the winner in the regional heat at Fresh @ Burcot Garden Centre in Bromsgrove, a photo of her winning bloom was sent forward for the national competition.

Gardening guru Peter Seabrook and his team of judges from The Sun selected the winners from the hundreds of entries that poured in from around the country.

"Judging the Nation’s Prettiest Rose from all those regional winners at garden centres nationwide was tough," said Peter.

"In fact it was so difficult we decided to add another three prizes of Highly Commended entries."

Elizabeth’s beautiful bloom was awarded a highly commended, winning £100 prize money.

She said: "I have always loved roses and I am so excited to win this prize as I never normally win anything."
