WORCESTER has been revealed as the happiest city in the UK, according to a new report.

A survey from Provident titled 'Unbroken Britain' has identified the happiest, safest and friendliest communities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The biannual report surveyed 2,702 Brits to find out how welcoming, friendly, polite and happy residents in each city of the UK feel their community is at present, compared to that of six, 12, 18 and 24 months ago.

Worcester is now the happiest city moving up from second place in September 2017.

Swansea was crowned as the friendliest city and Aberystwyth was ranked safest, with Worcester coming in second place.

Residents were asked to rate on a scale of 1-10 on how they felt within their community.

This is the fifth release of the Unbroken Britain report, the first of which was March 2016, second Sept 2016, third March 2017 and fourth Sept 2017.
