A LEDBURY woman died after falling down four steps and hitting her head.

Audrey Noakes, age 83, of Oakland Drive went to have her nails done in Ledbury on September 13 last year.

Her husband made sure she could walk up the four steps inside the building and went to leave, but she then fell backwards.

Mrs Noakes, who was known as Liz, was rushed to Hereford County Hospital but died on September 25.

The inquest at Herefordshire Coroner's Court heard that her health had recently deteriorated and she had suffered a number of mini strokes.

She would use a wheelchair when she was out and about but wouldn't need one in her home.

Coroner Mark Bricknell recorded that she died from an acute subdural haematoma and also listed multiple mini strokes, a stroke and diabetes type 2.

He said Mrs Noakes either lost her footing or suffered an attack, which led to her falling down the stairs. He concluded an accidental death.
