A 'GOOD samaritan' paid for the shopping of an elderly woman after her handbag was stolen from a Hereford supermarket.

The incident happened at Morrisons in Station Approach, Hereford at 10.10am yesterday.

"Two females are seen to enter the store at around 9.45am and after engaging an elderly lady in conversation are seen on CCTV to steal her handbag from her shopping trolley," said a police spokesman.

"The female’s descriptions are as the CCTV images attached, the females are said to have foreign accents."

The victim didn't notice the theft had happened until she was at tills and about to pay for her shopping. An unknown 'good samaritan' then paid for the victim's shopping and she contacted her bank.

"At around 10.45am hours the same day two males are captured on CCTV in Waitrose Hereford using the stolen cards prior to them being cancelled," added the police spokesman.

"Members of the public are asked to view the attached images in order to identify the offenders and to share to raise awareness of these offences."
