MEMBERS of the Ledbury in Bloom team have been turning their attention to the town's train station, because it needs to be as smart as possible, as a gateway entrance to the market town.

Clive Gunn, Ledbury in Bloom chairman said he hoped people had noticed how smart the station was looking.

He said: "So far the volunteers from Ledbury in Bloom have been busy tidying up the flower beds. Some healthy plants have been used to create an aromatics bed and to start making the bed under the signal box steps both beautiful to look at and attractive to birds.

"Now comes the job of filling the other ones up again."

In this, Ledbury in Bloom is seeking community health.

He said: "It has been suggested that the beds could be themed to represent local life so perhaps one apple based, another soft fruit, the River Wye, or based on local associations, clubs and businesses?

"The hard core of our volunteers did a wonderful job on these beds on a cold wet day; but would love to hand them over to any individuals, group or business who fancy being involved. Some subtle signage to reflect involvement is to be expected."

Mr Gunn added: "I want visitors to Ledbury to get a taste of what lies ahead of them when they get off the train. How about a mini version of The Malverns or The Market House?"
