Do you recognise these familiar faces?

They were at the peak of their fame in the 1980s when they visited Hereford to help promote the Admag to readers and advertisers.

One of our pictures shows a young athlete called Sebastian Coe, looking dapper in his pinstripe suit, leafing through a copy of the paper.

It was taken just a few years after he had won the 1500 metres gold medal at the 1980 Olympic Games. He later went on to become an MP, was made a life peer in 2000, and led the successful London bid for the 2012 Olympics.

Another picture is of Max Boyce. He rose to fame in the Seventies with an act that combined comedy and singing with his love of rugby and anecdotes about his origins in a Welsh mining community.

Taking a keen interest in the Admag while chomping on an apple is television star Michael Elphick. Best known for his role in ITV detective series Boon, he later became Harry Slater in EastEnders. He died in 2002.

The final picture is of Barbara Windsor. By the 1980s she was famous around the world for her roles in the Carry On films, and later won a new generation of fans as Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders.
