THE annual Christmas Gift Appeal is again aiming to bring plenty of extra seasonal joy to youngsters across Wyre Forest.

The scheme is run in conjunction with Home-Start Wyre Forest, Kidderminster’s Swan shopping centre and Weavers Wharf.

The launch of the appeal is on Thursday, November 27, and it will run until Thursday, December 18.

The Gift Appeal is looking for presents for children aged 0-18 years of age.

When you have chosen your gift, all you have to do is take the Christmas present, however big and of whatever price, to one of the outlets taking part.

Drop off points include the Home-Start offices in New Road, Kidderminster, The Swan Centre Management Suite or Weavers Wharf.

Taking part in Weavers Wharf are Sports Direct, T K Maxx, DW Sports, Savers and T H Bakers.

Then Home-Start Wyre Forest volunteers will make sure the presents are delivered to children across the district in time for Christmas Day.

Ros Darby, manager of the Swan Centre, said: “We take part in the Christmas Gift Appeal every year.

“I think it’s a great idea. It gets the local community involved and it gives those people who are below the poverty line some presents for Christmas.”

Belinda Darby, manager of Home-Start Wyre Forest, said: “This time of year can add so much pressure to families who may be experiencing additional difficulties and it is a fantastic opportunity to spread a little additional Christmas cheer to a local family, who are receiving Home-Start support.

“Our staff and volunteers will ensure a gift is delivered for each child in the families we are currently supporting which will make this time of a year a little more special for the whole family.”

Home-Start offers befriending and practical help in the home to parents with children under five who are experiencing additional stress.
