YOUNG bookworms were left delighted after their school library was stocked up with tales of fact and fiction thanks to their local councillors.
Pupils at Malvern Parish C of E Primary School are now enjoying leafing through a range of titles presented to them by Chase ward district councillors Melanie Baker, James O’Donnell and Rebecca Massey.
Between them the trio donated £300 from their ward budgets to stock up the library of the Manby Road school, after Cllr Baker found out it was in need of a refresh while out talking to residents.
Cllr Lucy Hodgson, who represents the area on Worcestershire County Council, matched their contribution with £300 from her divisional fund.
Headteacher Sue Parker said: “We’re just delighted we have the money to buy all these books. It’s really great for the children who are so excited.”
Cllr Baker said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the school by making this donation. Reading develops so many skills and fires the imagination and it was wonderful to see the joy on the children’s faces.”
