REDDITCH is being let down by a couple of streets which have never ever been cleaned, claims one embarrassed resident.

Cans, bottles, boxes and even a shopping trolley litter the pavement on Britten Street and Edward Street, and one man, who wished to remain anonymous, thinks most people don’t even care.

The resident said: "I walk down Britten Street and Edward Street every day to see my friend and I am disgusted with the amount of rubbish.

Redditch Advertiser:

"All of last year I saw just one person clearing litter, and he was doing a rubbish job. He ignored one side of the street.

"I'm convinced that neither have ever been touched by a road sweeper.

Redditch Advertiser:

"I've reported it to the council several times but I keep being ignored."

Photos show the mess that litters the streets, near the town centre, but the man says they show just the tip of the iceberg.

Redditch Advertiser:

He added: "I used to have a mate who did the litter picking around here and when he did it it was mint. You could eat your dinner off the floor, it was that clean.

"But since he was transferred it's all gone down hill."

Redditch Advertiser:

A spokesman from Redditch Council said: "Our litter pickers and sweepers cover the majority of the Borough on a regular scheduled basis. Unfortunately litter may be dropped in between our visits so we would urge residents not to do so in the first place, and help us to continue to create communities to be proud of."
