A TAXI driver was attacked by a passenger in Redditch during a racially aggravated assault. 

The victim, a 56-year-old man, was assaulted in his taxi, a dark grey Toyota Avensis, in the Bromsgrove Road area of the town at approximately 4am on Saturday, February 10. 

He received injuries to his head after being punched by a male front seat passenger inside the car and again as he exited the car to escape.

The man, described as white, in his early 30s, with brown hair and a muscular build, was wearing a white short sleeved t-shirt.

He was accompanied by a woman with brown hair, wearing a black dress, who travelled in the back seat of the car.

The pair entered the vehicle at the taxi rank at Unicorn Hill and were travelling toward Webheath.

Anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who has any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 and quote incident number 344 of 10 February.
