POLICE are asking for witnesses to a dog attack to come forward.

On Thursday afternoon, at around 2.20pm, the woman, who did not wish to be named, said she was out walking her dog, a Westley breed, in Nunnery Wood when the attack happened.

"It was a totally unprovoked attack," she said.

"It has happened before, last summer, with the same dog - it is a black husky Alsatian dog, which is distinctive as it has white paws.

"This time Oscar recognised the dog and tried to avoid it, but the dog attacked him again.

"We took him to the vets, he was shaking. The dog has taken a massive bite and left open, deep wounds. We will have to go back to the vets on Monday.

"That dog is a regular in the woods, it needs to be kept on a lead or muzzled. The owner was no where to be seen when it happened.

"I was in shock, absolute shock and distressed."

The woman posted a Facebook post appealing for information and she had many messages of support.

The post has since been taken down after people shared stories of the same dog attacking their dogs, with the information being passed to police.

Laura Maltby, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Police were made aware of a report of a dog being bitten by another dog in Nunnery Woods on Thursday.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 512S of 18 January."
