SIR – The proposed fish passes on the Severn and the ‘viewing gallery’ to enable members of the public to watch fish swimming up stream to spawn, sounds interesting.
However, in order to facilitate this project, considerable disruption will be caused.
I would urge readers to Google “The Environment Agency (unlocking the River Severn) (Diglis) compulsory purchase Order 2018. Do the merits of the scheme outweigh the extensive list of works necessary?
These include limited access down Kingfisher pass, loss of playing fields, woodland and hedgerows, not to mention heavy plant travelling along the Bromwich Road.
If others feel as strongly as I do that the implications of this costly scheme requires further thought then I urge them to write to their MP stating their objections.
