AN APPEAL for a new scanner at Kidderminster Hospital has flown past the half-way mark following a generous will donation.

A huge total of £101,000 has now been raised for the Kidderminster Hospitals League of Friends’ Scanner Appeal af - ter a trustee of the group left a large sum for the cause in his will.

A £1,500 donation from the Kidderminster Carnival funds also recently boosted the coffers. The Shuttle-backed appeal was set up by the Kidderminster Hospitals League of Friends in Febru - ary to raise £125,000 for a new scanner and building work to replace the old model. Members hope to reach the total by spring.

Peter Picken, of the League of Friends, said: “It’s brilliant news. The support from the community has been wonder - ful. The money has been raised through a number of large donations and many small donations.

“We have had quite a number where money has been received in memory of persons who have died. What’s encouraging is the variety of places the dona - tions have come from.

“We are now looking for the community to support us with other events to help us raise the remaining £25,000.”
