YOUNGSTERS have been cartwheeling and bopping their way through a series of dance performances.

The 18 talented children from St Bartholomew's CE Primary School, Stourport, performed a routine with an international flavour for hundreds at three Wyre Forest venues, including Kidderminster Town Hall.

The group has been trained by teacher, Shareen Rehman and Heath Hunter, who teaches at Fitness First, Kidderminster.

Pupils split into four groups and learned traditional dances from the USA, New Guinea, Jamaica and India to help them get a taste for global cultures.

The children added their own boundless energy to the mix to perform their routine to music in front of audiences, on different days, at Stourport Civic Centre, Baxter College for the Wyre Forest Voices and Visions event and finally the town hall.

Miss Rehman, who got Mr Hunter involved after attending his gym classes, said: "Parents have given us so much support at all of the events. They have now approached us to teach them salsa dancing at the school."

One of the pupils, Amy Crouch, has been selected to take part in a professional performing arts project based in Birmingham.
