TRIPLETS from Bewdley Primary School have pedalled their way to passing a cycling proficiency test.

Eleven-year-old Georgia, Joe and Lucy Kelly took part in a written and practical exam where they were tested on turning junctions, overtaking parked cars, hand signals and road awareness.

The test helps children develop observation skills and teaches the importance of cycle maintenance and hazard awareness, giving them the skills to ride to school safely.

Paul Roper, the school's headteacher, said: "One thing we're keen to do in school is to encourage children to walk or cycle to school so they can come safely on their bicycles.

"The children had a week of afternoons where they were trained on road safety and had the exams at the end of the training."

He added: "We're really pleased that they have won the award.

"It's important that they have these skills."
