MORE than 100 talented youngsters at a Kidderminster school have been treading the boards in a production of The Wind in the Willows.

The 120-strong years three and four at St John's CE Primary School completed a schedule of six performances in five days in front of parents and other year groups.

Each of the four classes acted out part of the story under the direction of literacy co-ordinator, Paul Drackley, who also wrote the adaptation and painted the scenery.

Headteacher, Gordon Wainwright, said: "The production was fantastic.

"The children and their teachers - especially Mr Drackley - worked extremely hard to present a show of which every cast member should be very proud.

"Events like this teach the children so much about team work, self-discipline and confidence-building."
