Wednesday 30th March saw the finals of a series of School Sport Partnership Basketball taking place for Herefordshire & Worcestershire pupils. Year 10 pupils from North Bromsgrove High School, Blessed Edwards, The Chase and Wolverley schools have all won their School Sport Partnership leagues which have been taking place for the first time this academic year. The leagues were coordinated by Heads of P.E, Partnership Development Managers and the Competition Manager team and saw pupils take part in structured more regular competition.
The aim of the finals was to allow more pupils and schools the opportunity to progress through the competitive player pathway and meet other schools from other parts of the county. This was also replicated for U13, U14 and U16 pupils throughout March and April.
The finals were held at the University of Worcester, which is the home ground for premiership basketball team Worcester Wolves. Shields were presented to the wining schools (donated by the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Partnership), and instead of individual medals, tickets donated by the Wolves were given to the young people to encourage them to attend some professional basketball games which will hopefully enthuse and inspire pupils to continue in sport throughout school and later life.

Vicci Webley, Senior Competition Manager said This is the first time we have organised School Sport Partnership finals; it is hoped that we are able to build upon these within basketball and roll out to other sports that our schools are competing in. We are really grateful for the Wolves support as by having the finals at such a prestigious venue, it will raise the profile of interschool competition and hopefully encourage and engage more young people to take part'.
