Celebration of Inclusive Sport

The Wyre Forest School Sport Partnership held its first Celebration of Inclusive Sport' event at Glades Leisure Centre on Wednesday 16th April. This inaugural event was open to all young people in Wyre Forest schools that were on the special educational needs register or had a physical disability.

During the day, over 200 young people from Year 1 to Year 11 attended, experiencing a range of activities that tested their agility, balance, co-ordination, balance, understanding, throwing, catching and striking. Representatives from the School Sport Partnership and Sports Development were also present at the event, identifying young people that showed a particular talent in different activity areas.

Young leaders from King Charles 1 High School and Haybridge High School supported the event, setting up and running the activity stations. They showed great maturity and their enthusiasm and talent for working with students with special needs was exemplary.

Bob Stirling from Blakebrook School said, "All students found activities that they liked doing and most found something that they were quite good at. It was great to see young people who are often reluctant to explore and experiment, in an environment that allowed them to express and to be creative".
