| St John's teams rue missed chances | | 7:44pm Tuesday 13th May 2008 | | St John's v St Catherine's football tournaments
Two St John's teams knew they were going to be up against it when they met St Catherine's at Baxter College, because they were fielding more league and year 6 players.
The first two matches ended in disappointment for both St John's teams. Their A team lost 3-1 to St Catherine's A. St John's were 3-0 down, when Connor Bayliss scored to put the game in the balance. Plenty of chances came their way, with Jack Beadsworth hitting the post and Connor forcing many good saves from the St Catherine's goalie, but to no avail.
St John's B team lost 6 -1 to St Catherine's B although Daniel Hunter scored an excellent goal. The second match for St John's A against St Catherine's B was much tighter, losing just 2-1 with again Connor Bayliss getting the goal after some good play. St John's B put up determined effort against St Catherine's A, but the Marlpool school proved too strong and won 4-1. In a reply tournament at St Catherine's St John's fielded one team and lost 3-0 and 4-0.

| BEADSWORTH WINS CUP WITH LIONS | | 1:39pm Sunday 11th May 2008 | | Kidderminster Lions central midfielder and year 6 pupil at this school, Jack Beadsworth, recently won the Stourbridge Under Elevens Cup with Kidderminster Lions against Withymoor West.
The final was at the Dell Stadium on Sunday 4th May which was an extremely rainy day with the final almost postponed. When it started it was Withymoor who made all of the early chances. Lions got better though and created the best chance of the so game so far when Jack B had a shot tipped over the bar.
The game then became a midfield battle which the Lions won when Harry Aston found space and time to put in a wonderful cross which Ben Priest headed against the bar but put the rebound away! The score was 1-0 at halftime.
Lions were really put under the cosh and almost conceded when defender Sam Yates had to clear off the line. Lions then piled on the pressure and then won the game in the last minute when Jack put James Smith through on goal, he took it round the keeper and coolly finished. Minutes later the ref blew his whistle and the cup was won. Ben Priest won Man Of The Match.

| Bishop of Dudley comes to school | | 7:26pm Tuesday 29th April 2008 | | By Sam Beadsworth, Harry Carter and Shola Perry
The Bishop of Dudley came to bless the new St John's CE Primary School. He spoke in the assembly about St John the Baptist who lived in the desert and ate honey and locusts and baptised people, including Jesus, in the River Jordan.
The bishop is called the Right Reverend David Walker and he led our worship. Afterwards he went round the classrooms and saw all the children working hard. He said there were 106 schools in his area and he had visited many of them.
He told us that he really enjoyed his visit. The bishop is quite famous in Dudley and quite a few people visit him.
