A PROMISING young Kidderminster showjumper has been left devastated after a trailer used to take ponies to competitions was stolen.

The trailer, worth more than £5,000, was taken in a raid at a yard, in Wilden Lane, Stourport at around 9.30pm on February 4.

Owner Adam Dunn said the trailer was used to transport his 14-year-old son Jack’s ponies Dan the Man and Sahara Desert to and from shows and he would have to put his budding career on hold until it was returned or replaced.

Jack is still hoping to compete at Lincomb Equestrian on February 18 as well as appearing at the Stourport Riding Centre Show Jumping show the following day but only if the family can arrange to borrow a trailer.

Mr Dunn added CCTV footage from cameras in the area had captured a silver Vauxhall car entering the yard and then leaving with the trailer along Digbury Lane at speed with the back doors open.

He also said film from earlier in the day showed what appeared to be the same car heading to the yard at around 2.20pm before leaving again.

Mr Dunn said: “Jack is a talented young jockey and has won a host of competitions. We are not a family made of money but we have invested a lot in his riding career.

“He is devastated about this and has been posting appeals for help on his Facebook pages, urging people to help us find the trailer. We are hoping to get it back as soon as possible.

Mr Dunn’s wife Liz added: “This has now stopped us getting to shows until we can sort out a new trailer as it will take at least 30 days until a pay out from the insurance company.

“This has really upset us. We work very hard to make sure Jack’s as the chance to pursue his career but now this is on standby.”

The trailer is sponsored by Bailey’s Horse Feed and has two stickers bearing the company’s name on – one on the jockey door and one on the side door. The trailer serial number is SCKD00000D5099560 and is data tagged.
