TWO talented Stourport brothers packed a real punch when they took the top two spots during a world martial arts competition.

Gregory Gowland, aged 12, and his 11-year-old sibling Benjamin came first and second in their age group at the Operation G-Force competition held at Rugby’s Queens Sports Centre.

This is the latest success for the brothers, who have scooped a clutch of awards in a range of martial arts contests during the past two years.

Competitors from all around the UK came to compete in Extreme Weapons, which ranges from Bo-staff, to nunchucks and swords.

Gregory and Benjamin carried out a two minute routine which impressed the international judges.

Proud dad Nigel said: “They were up against more than 20 competitors in their age group and managed to come first and second which is fantastic and achieved above all expectations.”

Gregory has been competing with the Bo-Staff and Benjamin with the double Nun-chucks for the last year with Urban Trix Academy in Solihull, where they train twice a week.

They are also members of Young-Gloves Karate Club from Kidderminster where they train twice a week. They will both be taking their 1st Degree Blacks in November.
