RAIN failed to dampen the spirits of more 1,000 revellers who flocked to this year's Rock and Roll Party in the Park at Stourport Riverside.

They came dressed in 1950s costumes to jive, rock and roll and browse among the 40 plus classic cars from the era at the event on Sunday (June 4).

There were around 20 trade stands at this year's event, which is organised by Wyre Forest District Council and draws fans from a wide area of the West Midlands.

Councillor Juliet Smith, cabinet member for culture, leisure and community protection, said: "Despite the lacklustre weather, the event was extremely well attended with lots of friends and families enjoying the music, variety of stalls and classic cars.

"As usual, it was a fantastic community event organised by Amy Smith and the team."
