STOURPORT High's new headteacher said she hopes to build on the "excellent foundations" at the school.

Current associate principal, Lorna Deakin, will take over the role of principal at Stourport High School and VIth Form Centre from September.

This follows the creation of the Severn Academies Education Trust (SAET) which includes Stourport High, as well as Stourport Primary, Baxter College, St Bartholomew's and Hartlebury Primary - with Wilden Primary and Wolverley Sebright set to join the trust in the future.

Chris King has acted as both executive principal at Stourport High and chief executive officer of the trust - but as a result of the growth of the trust, he will step down from his role as executive principal of the school, to continue the success of SAET.

Mrs Deakin joined the school at Easter from a school in Birmingham, where she lead key developments in teaching and learning.

She said: "I am delighted to be working with the staff and students at Stourport High School and look forward to building upon the excellent foundations already in place."

Mr King added: "I will, of course, continue to be working to support and be very much involved in the continued growth of Stourport High and look forward to strengthening the partnerships between our schools for the benefit of all our young people.

"I would like to take this opportunity to than you for all of our parents and carers for their continued support to ensure our students are the best that they can be and I look forward to seeing their many achievements over the remainder of this term, as well as supporting all of the trust's school's continued development over the many years to come."
