ORGANISERS are busy putting the final touches to a popular annual Stourport event which takes place this weekend.

Stourport Carnival will be held on Saturday, September 2 with the colourful parade opening the proceedings at 12.30pm when it sets off from its new start point at Redstone Caravan Park.

A host of floats and bands will take part in the parade and anyone who wishes to join can turn up on the day.

Antonia Alberone-Chamberlain, aged 18, will lead the consort as this year’s queen. The Kidderminster works at The Hive in Worcester.

St Wulstans Roman Catholic Primary School pupil Emily Edwards, who is 10, was named as princess while five-year-old Roxie Jordan – who goes to Burlish Park Primary – will be this year’s rosebud.

Pete Roberts, from Stourport Carnival Committee, said: “We are very excited about this year’s event and hope everyone who attends on Saturday has a great time.

“The weather is set to be good so I would urge people to join in the fun and support our charities on the day.”

The carnival committee is also appealing for more marshals to help to join the team and help ensure the event runs smoothly. Anyone who can or is interested in taking part can contact committee chairman Russell Hinton on 01299 822886.
