A KIDDERMINSTER dance school principal has organised a ballroom event to help raise money for charity in memory of an organ donor who saved his son’s life.

The event will take place at Stourport Workmen’s Club from 7-10pm on Saturday, September 9 and, while admission is free, donations will be given to Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) charity.

Csaba Polgar, who runs Style Dance School in Kidderminster, organised the charity evening – which coincides with Organ Donation Week - in memory of his nine-year-old son Kristoff’s donor.

Kristoff was just three when he underwent a liver transplant that saved his life and Mr Polgar said they have worked to raise awareness of organ donations to ensure more lives can be saved.

Mr Polgar, who lives in Kingswinford with his family, said Kristof is doing well and enjoyed success at the BCH Transplant Games held in Glasgow in July. He scooped two gold medals in mini tennis and table tennis and a silver in badminton.

His 12-year-old daughter Fanni also competed in the under-18s social tennis event and won a gold medal.

Mr Polgar said: “I am incredibly proud of my children and their achievements. They are always very excited about the Games, as they both enjoy doing sport and it is a wonderful way of celebrating the gift of life.

“We take every opportunity to promote organ donation, because we know that without the selfless decision of Kristof's donor family my children wouldn't be able to share precious experiences like the Transplant Games.

“Kristof's gift of life will always be treasured and his donor, Justin, will always be remembered.”
