POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a Jeep towing a caravan crashed into a wall and another car in Stourport today (Thursday, October 26).

Officers were called to Mitton Street, near the junction with The Gilgal, at around 6.45am this morning following reports that a 4x4 had been involved in a collision.

It is believed the red Jeep Cherokee hit a wall of a building and a silver BMW estate. The driver of the Jeep left the scene.

No-one is thought to have been injured but police are looking to trace the driver of the Jeep.

The incident caused huge traffic delays on Mitton Street and surrounding roads as a clean-up operation took place.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called to reports of 4x4 towing a caravan being involved in a collision on Mitton Street near the junction with Gilgal, Stourport around 6.45am this morning (26 October).

"A red Jeep Cherokee is reported to have collided with the wall of a property and been involved in a collision with a silver BMW estate.

"Officers attended and a man believed to have been driving the Jeep, described as black and wearing a dark hooded top, is reported to have left the area in the direction of Worcester Road and a nearby petrol station.

"No injuries have been reported but officers are keen to locate the driver and check on his welfare.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner in which the vehicle was being driven beforehand is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 84s of 26 October."
