A NEW defibrillator could be a lifesaver in the Stourport community at the Elizabeth Mills Centre.

The centre recently had the life-saving defibrillator installed following a generous donation from the Monday Night Group.

Each year, the group donate funds raised during their annual pantomime at Stourport Civic to charities and community groups.

From their January 2017 performance, they donated £550 to the Elizabeth Mills Centre, which allowed them to buy the portable defibrillator.

Ann Hill, from the centre, said: "A member of staff suggested we could purchase a defibrillator with the funds donated by the Monday Night Group. The group were in favour of our purchase, so they donated £550.

"We have been looking to buy a defibrillator for quite a while, so it was good to find one we could afford.

"It was installed earlier this month. A few members of our staff will be trained on how to use it.

"We are very pleased. Plus, the panto group were pleased that it would be installed right across the road from where they perform."

The Elizabeth Mills Centre holds a luncheon club every weekday at 12pm. They provide a two-course meal for £4 for anyone over the age of 55.
