JUST two people will battle it out in an election to fill a vacant seat on Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council.
Conservative candidate Wayne Jones and John Derek Wood, of the Cookley & Caunsall Action Group, have been confirmed as the only people nominated for the Cookley seat on the authority.
Residents will be able to vote for their chosen candidate on polling day, which takes place on Wednesday, January 31 from 7am to 10pm.
Meanwhile, Wyre Forest District Council has advertised the vacancy on Stourport Town Council that arose following the death of UKIP councillor John Holden.
Mr Holden died at Worcester Royal Hospital on Tuesday, December 12 aged 71.
He was a serving councillor on the authority and represented the Stour and Wilden Ward. He also previously sat on Wyre Forest District Council and Worcestershire County Council.
Prospective candidates will have until January 24 to request a by-election to fill the Stourport Town Council seat.
Anyone interested should make an application in writing to Ian Miller, Returning Officer, Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster, DY11 7WF.
