FIVE would-be Stourport Town councillors will go to the polls later this month to fill a vacant seat.

The by-election for the Stour & Wilden ward is being held on Tuesday, February 27, following the death of John Holden in December last year.

Tim Berry (Conservative Party), Simon Ford (Liberal Democrats), Jackie Griffiths (Labour Party), Heather Lacy (UKIP) and John Thomas (Independent Community and Health Concern) are the nominated candidates for the seat.

People in the ward wishing to vote but still need to register have until midnight on Friday, February 9. They can do so by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by getting paper copy of the form from the Hub at the Town Hall in Kidderminster.

Voters wishing to cast their ballot by post or proxy can fill out an application form by visiting www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/voting. Deadline for postal vote requests is 5pm on Monday, February 12 while the proxy deadline is 5pm on Monday, February 19.

The polling station will be St Michael’s Scout HQ, Mitton Close, Stourport-on-Severn. Voting will be open from 7am until 10pm.

The count will be held in the Council Chamber at Wyre Forest House, starting at 10pm on Tuesday 27 February. This will be webcast and will be available from www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/webcast
