HUNDREDS of bikers are revving up their engines for a Stourport event aimed at raising much needed funds for a charity.

Ben’s Ride Part Deux will see a procession of motorcyclists set off from the Old Rose and Crown in Stourport from 11am on April 1 for a trip, lasting over an hour, around the surrounding area.

The aim of the event, organised by Debbie Millington and Rachelle Hornby, is to raise funds for the Leapgate Activity Centre, which provides educational and vocational training and support adults with learning difficulties.

It is the second event of its kind and follows a successful ride in 2016, which had been organised for Debbie’s 22-year-old cousin Ben Handley, who has Down’s syndrome.

She said: “Ben loves all things motorbike related and, two years ago, we made his dream come true by taking him on a group ride that he will never forget.

“This time it will be a charity run to raise money for Leapgate Activity Centre. Their vision is to build, operate and expand a facility capable of delivering activities in the Worcestershire area.”

Midland Bike Marshalls will be on hand along the route to ensure things run smoothly.

The route will take in scenic biking roads in Stourport, Abberley, Newnam Bridge, Tenbury Wells, Upper Rochford, Sapey Common, Martley, Great Witley, Ombersley and back to the pub.

Bikers wishing to take part are asked for a £5 per person minimum donation while breakfast baps will be served from 9.30am and a barbecue awaiting the returning riders.
