A GENEROUS Stourport Carnival Queen has raised hundreds of pounds to support children with cancer.

Antonia Alberone-Chamberlain, 19, had around 30cm of her long blonde hair at Cameos Hair Salon on April 13 in aid of the Little Princess Trust and has raised nearly £700. The proceeds and Antonia’s cut hair will be donated to the charity that provides free real hair wigs to children suffering from hair loss after cancer treatment.

After initially setting the goal of raising £350, the cost of making one wig, Antonia has exceeded her own expectations.

The Carnival Queen said “I was very nervous on the day, but I was also excited.

“When I cut the first ponytail off, it was so exhilarating.”

The haircut was live-streamed for people to see online, with Janet Allen from the carnival committee, Antonia’s mother, and the customers on the day watching and showing their support at the hair salon.

Antonia said: “I do plan on cutting my hair again & donating it but I'm going to rock short hair for a little while first.”

Antonia was first inspired to cut her hair for the Little Princess Trust by the Youtube star and singer Carrie Hope Fletcher who previous donated her hair to the charity.

Now, Antonia says she has "inspired" her little sister to follow in her footsteps and "face the chop" for charity.
