A STAR-studded cast will be coming to Bewdley when a new supernatural thriller is filmed in the town.

Stourport born ‘Coronation Street’ actor Marc Baylis - who played Rob Donovan - will appear alongside ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Braveheart’ A-lister James Cosmo, MBE

in ‘Off Grid,’ an independent short film by Dark Matter Productions.

The movie is set to be filmed in Bewdley and also stars Gavin & Stacy's Alison Steadman OBE.

Dark Matter Productions is run by Bewdley-based director Carl Timms, and his writing partner Mark Brendan.

The film is a post-apocalyptic thriller set in a derelict shelter in a hostile wood, and follows survivalist John Tanner, played by Cosmo, fighting to protect his sick wife Grace, played by Steadman, from supernatural beings.

Shooting for ‘Off Grid’ will begin in mid-May.

Carl Timms said: "It’s testament to the power of Mark Brendan's script that we have been able to assemble a cast of this quality for an independent short film.

“We are delighted to work with actors of such pedigree and experience and I'd like to thank our casting director, Alison Solomon, who has done an incredible job in assembling this dream line up."

This is Dark Matter Films’ second short film, following the Birmingham set zombie flick ‘Still,’ which won nine awards in a successful 18-month festival run.

The company launched an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to fund production costs and provide ‘perks’ for supporters, which ends on May 1.

This includes the chance to be an extra in the film with IMDB credit, Associate or Executive producer roles with VIP set access and premier tickets or receive a copy of the finished film.
