A KIND-hearted Stourport golf society will make an ill child’s wish come true after fundraising a trip to Disneyland.

The Melvin Bourne Golf Society celebrated their £1130 fundraising effort in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation at a presentation night last Friday (April 27) in the Kings Arms pub, Stourport.

The funds will grant four-year-old Stourbridge boy Dexter - who is fighting a rare liver cancer called Hepatoblastoma - his wish to visit Disneyland Paris with his family in the summer to see his favourite characters.

The money was raised from several society golf days taking place at different golf courses in the previous year.

The golf society raised a further £450 on the presentation night which will be donated to charity along with the proceeds from other golf fundraisers planned later this year.

The society started in 2017 to honour the memory of Stourport Bridge Inn pub landlord and keen sportsman Melvyn Bourne, who died unexpectedly in December 2016.

The Make a Wish Foundation charity was chosen by Melvyn's partner Gill, who felt that the charity's cause of supporting children would have been popular with the late landlord.
