School does have policy to prevent bully tactics

2:52pm Thursday 8th February 2001

ALL schools in Bromley and elsewhere suffer some incidents of bullying.

We have every reason to believe that they are relatively rare at Kelsey Park. However, we are not complacent and the schools anti-bullying policy is strictly enforced.

In the case of the Dean Lloyd (News Shopper, January 31), immediate action was taken against the perpetrator and Dean was visited by one of the schools social inclusion officers.

Mr Harknet, the Headmaster, wrote to Mrs Lloyd expressing his regret and inviting her into school to discuss the incident.

She hasnt yet done so.

The staff at Kelsey Park work tirelessly and with great skill on behalf of all our students.

In the most recent government analysis, in the six measures used to grade comparable schools, Kelsey Park received five As and one B.

These results speak much louder than wild generalisations based on an isolated incident.

They are a truer reflection of a school that cares about the welfare and progress of its students.

It is clearly in Deans best interests to resume his full time education as quickly as possible.

The headmasters invitation to Mrs Lloyd to discuss the incident and Deans future needs remains open.
