GET your facts right Ken Henderson.

I read with interest your letter and I feel it necessary to bring you to task on councillors’ allowances.

You said in your letter and I quote: “As a Stourport town councillor for eight years along with my colleagues with much longer service, we can’t take a cut in our allowances.”

That statement implies we receive allowances and this response is for the benefit of the residents in Stourport. There are 18 town councillors, none of which claim any sort of allowance. They are elected by the people and serve their communities.

The mayor and his deputy do receive an allowance in order to carry out their duties on behalf of our town.

As for litter picking, I have the feeling you have been left out. If you would like Ken, I will organise a litter pick in Arley Kings and invite you to join us, then you will appreciate what a real team of volunteers is all about.
