Wyre Forest District Council Sports Awards

  • JUNIOR SPORTS WOMAN: Sally Moon (centre right), 15, had an excellent year for Samurai Judo Club, winning her weight category in the Heart of England and National Junior Championships. She was also named the Shuttle's Sports Personality of 2010.
  • SCHOOL TEAM OF THE YEAR: THE girls under-15s football team
from Bewdley School and Sixth Form made it all
the way to the fifth round of the
National Schools Cup.
  • OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION: Martial Artist John Swift has successfully built-up Verve Tae kwondo Club since it was set up 12-years ago. He also helped to organise the international team event at the , where teams from across the globe competed.
  • SENIOR SPORTS WOMAN: Amy Smith had a breakthrough year winning swimming medals at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
  • JUNIOR SPORTSMAN: Skier Ashley Breese second and fourth in the
European Championships in
Andorra and then took second-place at the English Alpine
Championships. He also won his age group at the Berzerkhy Cup race in Austria in January.
  • JUNIOR COACH OF THE YEAR: Eighteen-year-old James Harris has worked with Stourport Cricket Club's under-11s and ladies team.
  • SENIOR SPORTSMAN: Former Stourport Hockey Club captain Neil Stone (right) helped England to gold at the Grand Masters tournament in South Africa.
  • CLUB OF THE YEAR: Samurai Judo club took the title for the sixth time.
One of the best judo clubs in Britain, they are just one of four to have obtained the Clubmark award.
  • DISABLED SPORTS PERSONALITY: Swimmer Steven Boyce returned from the Down's Syndrome

  • COACH OF THE YEAR: Stourport Hockey Club's Mark Moss saw another busy year marked with an award. First team coach at Stourport, he also has been named England girls under-16s coach.
  • VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: Fran Moss devotes 30 hours to  a week to coaching at Stourport Hockey Club, where she organises the ladies section, as well as sitting on county and meetings.
