YOUNGSTERS at in Kidderminster have given their school's aim to achieve "eco green flag" status a boost by creating a recycling project.

Reception children at Franche Community Primary School have decided to build the Chestnut Grove site a recycled bottle greenhouse.

The greenhouse will be made out of two-litre plastic bottles and a wooden frame. The bottles will be washed, have their labels removed then cut to the right side by pupils before being added to the framework.

Reception teacher and eco-schools coordinator Laura Neath has set up the eco club with the children and said: "We are all very excited about this amazing project and very keen to get started. It's a great way to help the whole school with their growing activities."

After presenting their idea to headteacher Val Weddell Hall, they decided to involve the whole school by writing letters to pupils in all years asking them to donate two-litre sized bottles - 1,500 are needed for the project.

The eco green flag scheme is a project of Eco-Schools England, designed to encourage pupils and staff to be environmentally friendly.
